Buenos Aires, March 24 (NA) – A 22-year-old young man was injured after being hit by a car participating in an illegal street race near the Tecnopolis premises, in the Buenos Aires district of Vicente López. This incident has once again raised alarms about this type of clandestine practice. The 25-year-old driver was at the front of the BMW when he lost control during a maneuver, hit the young man, and crashed into a pole. The victim was taken to the Houssay Hospital for minor injuries. Although the incident took place in an area where, according to previous complaints, illegal corridors usually gather to hold high-speed races at night, Viviam Perrone, a representative of the 'Mothers of Pain' association, warned that the locations are constantly changing. 'I was told that they were there on Saturday and conducted controls, but this happened on Sunday night,' she explained. 'I was also aware of races on Paraná Street, which is the one that divides San Isidro from Vicente López, on Thursday night. If they hurt someone, they must face consequences. That's what we ask for in the project we have in the National Congress, which already has half sanction from the Chamber of Senators.' 'I presented it a week ago in the Chamber of Deputies, now they have to sign the opinion. Of course, it is not the solution, and more changes are still needed, but they removed some points that we requested and at least it will be a little more serious if someone hurts or kills someone in a traffic accident,' Viviam concluded. The representative, whose son Kevin Sedano was killed when he was 14 years old in May 2022 when the young man was run over by a driver in the Buenos Aires district of Vicente López, stated: 'Therefore, I understand that they change from one side to the other.' For this reason, the association presented a project that seeks to toughen penalties among other modifications to the Traffic Accidents Law: 'A tougher legislation is necessary. They don't care about getting a fine, having their car taken away, or having their driver's license suspended. I believe it will be done because they were all in agreement from the different political parties, and then it has to be voted on in the chamber.'
